Fairy Name....

I couldn't resist this one...

Your fairy is called Feather Goblindancer
She is a bringer of riches and wealth.
She lives in high places where the clouds meet the earth.
She is only seen when the bees swarm and the crickets chirrup.
She wears pale blue like the sky. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.

On another note, Christopher is recovering really well. He is a fantastic kid. He's a little whingy and clingy today, but other than that, he's been superb.

I'm FINALLY better!! I can't believe it!! I still have a little lingering yuck, but on the whole, I feel fairly well. I'd forgotten what it felt like to not have that heavy head and running nose!

My puppy Marty went in today for 'that' surgery. About time, too, as he had "befriended" an empty plant pot and managed to damage himself earlier in the week. Mia is upset he is at the Vet... thank goodness she didn't see him after the 'pot incident'.... he couldn't walk and kept yelping, poor pup.

We finally gave him a bath and he hated it. Of course, I took copious amounts of photographs. I will sort through them and add a couple later. ;)

Hospitals and Thanks

Thanks to everyone who commented or emailed regarding the last post. I've been totally overwhelmed with responses and look forward to contacting everyone in the coming weeks.

Chris and I are now home from the hospital. His operation went really well and he's been really brave. His poor little throat looks awful and I hope it gets better quickly.

I still haven't shaken my sickness either. Every time I think I'm getting better, I come down with something again. The lovely nurses in the Children's Hospital ended up looking after me too. I'll be laying low for a few days to try to shake this latest bout of 'flu off. :(

Catch up with you soon.

Point. Shoot. Play.

I am so happy to announce that I have accepted an invitation to join 'Point. Shoot. Play.'

I will begin by teaching PhotoShop Basics 101 at selected venues. The classes will be centred around improving, mending and altering digital photographes.

I am thrilled to be working with the very talented Peta Stokes. I originally 'met' Peta online when I first started scrapping and have bumped into her online in a few different places. I was thrilled for her when her digital layouts started popping up in the mags and now I finally get to meet her IRL and work with her. Nice.

There will be more exciting classes to come and I am really excited to be part of this new business. Stay tuned for more info on the Photography Classes to be introduced!! ;)

RNA Over for Another Year

I went to the RNA today to collect my exhibits, certificates and ribbons. The ladies there sure know how to make a person feel great about their craft. They said the nicest things to me. I was also told that they had 'all fallen in love' with my first place winning puppy.... yeah, me too. I am really glad to have him back. He's beautiful.

More exciting is something from my four first place wins was photographed for the "10 Days in August: Brisbane's Ekka" photography exhibition at the Museum of Brisbane showing late 2008, City Hall. Nice!

My Challenge

I am in the middle of tidying up my small scrapping area and have decided I have WAY too much stuff. I don't think I'll ever use it all and have no idea why I even bought some of it in the first place!

So my challenge to myself is to scrap as many layouts as I can without buying anything. No scrap shopping at all. Not even digi ~ oh my!! I am aiming for between 30 & 50 layouts. I certainly have enough stuff here to do it!

So I'm at 5 so far. Anyone care to join me?

Iluka and Back

Ever been to Iluka, NSW? I hadn't until this week. I'm completely enchanted by this little part of the world. Just gorgeous. The long drive (2hrs from Coolangatta, where we started) didn't even worry me. I actually let John drive and I took photos the whole way down. There are some really cool bridges, signs and little sights to see on the way.

The kids missed most of it...

Once there, we looked at some houses, had lunch, visited the beaches, then turned around and came home. A LONG way for a short time, but we'll be back. We want to stay in the house we bought before we rent it out. :D

I'm looking forward to spending hours by the sea taking more photos. In the time I was there, I saw a pod of dolphins feeding and a gorgeous sea eagle hunting for fish. I took some photos of it hunting, but it didn't catch anything unfortunately.

Poor little Christopher was very ill and befriended a bucket for the journey home. We did sit in Emergency for four or five hours on Thursday, but he's all better today. I am watching him very closely, as he's having his tonsils and adnoids removed on Friday. He needs to be well for that.

I've been speaking to someone about some pretty exciting opportunities I have coming up. I'm hoping to be able to work them into my schedule, as it all sounds fantastic!!

More on that later. Thanks for dropping by. ;)

Head Strong Three Year Olds

"No Mummy. Nicky says no. Don't be taking my photo now, Mummy. I'm walking Daddy."

SO Overdue!!

So last week, I mentioned we were replacing the roof at an investment property. It was so long overdue and I'm really happy with the final effect. The house still needs LOTS of work to make it pretty. We will be doing it all over time.

Here are a few before, during and after shots. I had lots of fun photographing the rusty old roof they pulled down. No wonder it leaked inside when it rained!! Check it out!!

I haven't spent any time on these photos and as you can see, the house needs the paintwork finished, a re-fence, a new letter box and a lot of garden work done. We have spent hours there pulling out tonnes of concrete from the yard. It was awful before... now I can see the potential.

This was my first experience with reroofing a home. The roofers are very impressive. They did a great job and were great when I dropped by to photograph the house. We went through Roof Masters, if you are looking for a roofer!

Thanks for dropping by.

Ekka Fun

I have to say I LOVE the Ekka ~ the Royal Queensland Exhibition. I never get to spend as much time there as I'd like to, but at least we were able to go this year.

We didn't spend too long at the rides and again, they had the children's rides mostly separated from Side Show Alley, which works really well.

The kids loved all the animals and, even though we didn't go through the Animal Nursery (due to the line up), they managed to see plenty. The Animal Nursery was the best set up this year. We were able to walk all around the edge and look in, without actually walking through the animals.

Mia milked a cow. Chris was a bit overwhelmed, but did have a pat. All five of us went on the new ferris wheel. It's very expensive and I think I prefer the older, more open ferris wheel. The new one is certainly very tall and has a great view from the top.

We arranged a 'pass-out' and came home mid afternoon for a sleep. Mia, Chris and I were then able to go back to the Ekka for the motorbikes and fireworks.
The motorbike stunts were a lot of fun. Mia and Chris were amazed by it all. Mia kept saying that she can imagine Daddy doing the same tricks. Back flips on a road bike? I don't think so. Very cute she has so much confidence in Daddy, though.

I've always had trouble photographing fireworks, so am really happy with the shots I managed this time.

I haven't edited any of these photos, so please excuse the basicness of them. :)

I am disappointed we didn't get a chance to check out the horses, cows and general live stock pavilions. They are my favourite bits. I really miss when my friend Emma doesn't come up with her horses. I love hanging out at the stables.

Mia was thrilled to 'meet' George the police horse. Over 17 hands tall!!! Oh my, and she wasn't nervous at all!

I was hoping to get back to the Ekka yesterday, but Chris was home sick, so Nick and I had to stay home also.

Until next year....

Moving On & Building a Roof

I've been out and about today with Nick. It's so nice finally having Mia & Chris back at school and relatively healthy. Chris' tonsils/adnoids come out in just under three weeks, so I am going to enjoy the time in between as much as I can.

Our little investment house over at Pinkenba is getting a new room over the next few days. It really needs it and I am hoping it will lift the look of the house a lot. I can't wait to see it finished.

Now I have just enough time before the school run to fold some washing and hang out a few more loads - lol - it's never ending, isn't it?

Sassi Photography Back Online!

I'm so happy to be able to announce that my photography website, Sassi Photography, is finally back online. I have a lot of work to do to it to make it how I would like it to be, but it's there!

I envisage, when I get some more time, the whole website will change again. I had to work with a template to get it up and running again so quickly.

If you go to check it out, please be kind.... and keep in mind there are changes still coming. ;) (especially to the gallery!!)

More Time to Blog

Now I am cutting back on so many commitments, I hope to be able to blog a little more. I don't have anything earth-shattering to share, but I like to be able to look back on the mundane events of our little lives.

The weekend just gone, apart from being the scrapbooking retreat, was my baby's third birthday. I can't believe Nicholas is three already. So happy birthday, my little boy!

John did so very well in making two birthday cakes for him ~ one of them a Train Cake!! (Nick's request.) I usually make the cakes and have made a bit of tradition by making their choice each year. I'm so pleased John stepped up to the plate and make a special cake while I was away.

Photos are to come. ;)
